About The Position

Forest Electric NJ seeks a Project Accountant to be responsible for administering and preparing requisition forms, interaction with various customers, clients and personnel regarding collections, report distribution and other project accounting tasks for our New Jersey and New York City offices. In addition, the position is expected to grasp an overall knowledge of both the business and economic environment to provide analytical support to upper management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Construction accounting required.
  • Accounts Payable experience demonstrating accounting and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with Viewpoint by Vista construction ERP software highly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel formulas and formatting.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, and work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Viewpoint by Vista construction ERP software highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Activities involve the preparation and administrating of monthly requisitions and payment applications in accordance with contract terms and formats.
  • Prepare invoices and change order logs.
  • Monitor, communicate and resolve open issues related to assigned projects.
  • Compile, maintain and produce cash management reports and forecast reports using internal cash management applications for distribution to upper management.
  • Maintain billing job folders in an organized, complete and accessible manner.
  • Analysis of job cost and profit/loss of assigned projects.
  • Regular interaction with customers and company personnel regarding collections, change order approvals and billings.
  • Communications with Project Management regarding billings, change orders, back charges, close-outs, and profit/loss analysis.
  • Review and generate all necessary waivers or tax certificates.
  • Review and prepare Certified Payroll, Insurance and M/WBE reports as required.
  • Must report to the NYC office at least one day per month.
  • Initial training to occur in the NYC office.
  • Participate as an active team member and be accountable for all accounting issues pertaining to assigned projects.
  • Support Director of Project Accounting, Controller and CFO for other accounting activities.
  • Regular, predictable and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of the position.
