About The Position

Our Construction Project Accountant manages the finances for specific building projects, handling budgets, tracking costs (labor, materials, subcontractors), processing invoices and progress billings (such as AIA forms), ensuring compliance, and reporting financial health to project managers, focusing on profitability and timely financial closeouts for each job.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in construction accounting or job cost accounting
Strong knowledge of construction cost accounting principles
Proficient with accounting software
Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of construction contracts and billing methods (AIA)

Responsibilities

Track, analyze, and report job costs across multiple construction projects
Review and verify project budgets, change orders, and cost codes
Assist with budget development and forecast projections
Monitor actual project costs vs. budget and identify variances
Collaborate with project managers to review cost data and provide actionable insights
Track labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Review and reconcile project costs against budgets and forecasts
Generate timely and accurate job cost and variance reports
Prepare monthly cost reports and support month-end closings
Ensure proper coding and documentation of job-related transactions
Perform audits and assist with internal/external reviews
