The Project Accountant facilitates efficient operations between the accounting department and project management team with regard to project financial forecasting, cost reconciliation, owner invoicing, and project compliance items. Note: This role is eligible for 1 day remote work opportunity after a probationary period, and will initially be based out of our Newton, MA headquarters with the option to operate out of our Manchester, NH office after a training/probationary period.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field and at least three years of accounting experience within the commercial construction industry
  • Ability to work with limited direction and comfortable making decisions and/or recommendations to leadership
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities
  • Act as a positive contributor to the team, culture and work environment, as well as demonstrate a strong work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Willing to learn and be flexible

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with Procore and Viewpoint Spectrum
  • Proficiency with Excel

Responsibilities

  • Work with respective project management teams to prepare, execute, and submit monthly owner billings, including lien waivers and supporting documentation as required
  • Manage job cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and change orders.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Reconcile subcontracts for closed jobs monthly
  • Partner with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and billing status.
  • Manage budget upload process from excel templates to Accounting and Project Management systems
  • Perform other duties as required
