About The Position

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is currently hiring a Project Accountant in our Rockford, IL office. The Project Accountant is responsible for processing all financial aspects of each construction project assigned from project setup until closeout. The Project Accountant will work directly with the Project Manager to process all owner billings, subcontractor billings, change orders, cost projections, job cost adjustments, compliance, reporting and various other tasks for each project. The Project Accountant will be responsible for completing the following tasks efficiently and correctly while meeting all posted accounting deadlines. The Project Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in the Construction industry preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Accounting
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project setup review in Viewpoint accounting system
  • Responsible for monthly owner billing in a variety of systems determined by the owner requirements
  • Responsible for the communication with each subcontractor at the beginning of the project to setup billing cutoff dates and procedures
  • Responsible for all subcontractor billing on a monthly basis including subcontractor invoice approval
  • Responsible for all additional billings determined by project type
  • Responsible for making all progress entries and job cost adjustments in accounting system at the direction of the Project Manager or Construction Controller
  • Responsible for preparing, reviewing and posting all job cost projections in accounting system with input from the Project Manager or Construction Controller
  • Responsible for the creation and processing of all subcontract change orders in accounting system as well as the review of all subcontract change orders created by the Project Manager
  • Responsible for the creation processing of owner change orders in accounting system
  • Responsible for monitoring outstanding Accounts Receivable as it relates to the project
  • Responsible for ensuring that all signed contract documentation (contracts and change orders) reconcile to the accounting system
  • Responsible for the creation and distribution of various project reporting to management and project team.
  • Responsible for the final project owner and subcontractor billing as well as using the project closeout checklist to close out each project successfully
  • Various additional project related tasks
