About The Position

The Project Accountant ensures accurate project setup and compliance by reviewing client contract documentation and inputting data into the project accounting system in accordance with contract terms and corporate guidelines. This role manages invoicing processes, including creating, revising, posting, and archiving invoice packets, and supports subconsultant invoice payments. The Project Accountant executes project closeout activities, including complex reconciliations, and provides detailed analysis and research to respond to internal and external client inquiries. They serve as a liaison during audits, analyze work-in-process and accounts receivable, and contribute to the implementation and testing of new departmental software. As a subject matter expert, they offer guidance to peers and assist with system maintenance and troubleshooting in collaboration with IT.

Requirements

  • Billing experience within engineering or architectural firm.
  • Experience working with project managers to track deadlines and milestones.
  • Understanding of lumpsum and time & materials billing.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, or BST.
  • Experience with change orders.
  • Proficient in Excel - Pivot tables, Vlookups, Sumif's, Index Match.
  • 3+ years of project billing experience within an engineering or architectural company with revenue over $200 million.
  • 3+ years of experience creating invoices for multi-million dollar projects.
  • 3+ years of change orders experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working with project managers to track deadlines and milestones.

  • Macros in Excel.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field.
