Project Accountant Roles and Responsibilities: • Responsible for the accounting and financial presentation of projects in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Modified Cash Basis of Accounting, BCJ policies and procedures • Assist in fee and expense analysis • Review contracts from a financial perspective and advise Principals, Project Managers, and Finance Director of any financial concerns • Participate in compliance meetings with team and review completed compliance form with the Project Manager • Set up and maintain project numbering schemes in accordance with BCJ standards • Responsible for setting up a project with the relative qualitative data required by BCJ • Review and analyze the financial condition of each project on a monthly basis and advise the Principal, Project Manager and Finance Director as to any material variances • Alert the Finance Director regarding any internal control problems or questionable practices • Assist in the preparation of the project plan including a profitability analysis. and reviews such plan and analysis with Principal & PM • Update PM on labor status during regular meeting • Maintain "open door" policy by insuring availability to PM and project teams to answer questions regarding where to charge time, project plan allocations, status of hours spent • Review preliminary invoices for appropriate labor, expense charges, billing rates, fees maximums and makes appropriate changes and re-classifications; • Update outstanding receivable statements, billing summaries and consultant summaries that are for client's use • Assist in processing consultant and vendor invoices
