They work with project and practice managers and directors, along with other management personnel to ensure appropriate financial and operational performance. The Project Accountant assists with accounting system reporting, process development and administration, A/P approval and processing of sub-consultants, A/R collections, troubleshooting and other tasks and projects as identified.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 3 years’ relevant experience in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • Knowledge of accounting functions and processes.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership over projects and processes.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively modify or adapt to changing project needs or priorities.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced situations while maintaining and emphasizing a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.

Nice To Haves

  • AEC or professional services industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision accounting software and Concur preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Audits project contracts and Additional Service Agreements (ASA’s) to ensure accurate setup for billing.
  • Performs monthly billing recommendations, invoice processing, and client submittals/uploads.
  • Moves timesheet and expense entries to the correct project phases.
  • Communicates concisely and in a timely manner with clients, upper management and project managers as needed.
  • Collaborates with project and construction managers to ensure timely receipt of sub-consultant invoices, accurate posting to project phases, and prompt payments in accordance with terms.
  • Ensures sub-consultants maintain proper Certificates of Insurance (COI’s).
  • Responds to client invoicing disputes and works toward resolution in collaboration with clients.
  • Assists with internal and external project audits.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with accounting counterparts at key client organizations.
