We are seeking a highly organized Construction Project Accountant with experience in commercial or civil construction to support the financial operations with ongoing and upcoming construction projects. This position will play a critical role in processing subcontractor invoices, tracking job costs and budgets, preparing owner billings, and ensuring overall financial accuracy throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and accounting leadership to maintain financial control and drive project success. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, cost tracking, budgeting, and compliance with company and regulatory policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in construction accounting
  • Knowledge of project-based accounting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition
  • Proficient with accounting and project management tools such as Procore , Viewpoint Spectrum, or similar

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in renewable energy construction preferred
  • Experience in the financial oversight of utility-scale solar, wind, or energy storage projects preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and update project budgets.
  • Track and analyze job costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment across multiple sites
  • Work with operations on owner billings and invoicing, including progress billing, lien waivers, and retention tracking
  • Process and reconcile subcontractor/vendor pay applications, verifying compliance with contract terms
  • Assist project managers with change order tracking and integration into project budgets
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and applicable regulations and audit requirements
  • Collaborate with contract administrators and legal teams to monitor lien waivers, insurance certificates, and bonding
  • Reconcile project-related GL accounts and ensure timely month-end close
  • Maintain accurate and organized project financial records, contracts, and audit documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, contractual obligations, and industry regulations
