About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to perform comprehensive monthly analysis of revenue and cost of goods sold (COGS), ensuring timely and accurate recognition in line with accounting policies and standards. The role involves analyzing commission expenses for proper calculation and accrual, preparing and posting numerous journal entries, and completing balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. You will collaborate with operations, sales, and finance teams to ensure financial results reflect business performance, and support month-end and year-end close processes while assisting with audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in project, cost, or revenue accounting.
  • Proficiency in general ledger, reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable, and receivable.
  • High analytical skills for problem-solving beyond entry processing.
  • Experience with mid or large-sized ERP systems, preferably Epicor.

  • Manufacturing experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed monthly analysis of revenue and COGS for accurate recognition.
  • Analyze and validate commission expenses, ensuring proper calculation and alignment.
  • Prepare and post a high volume of journal entries including accruals and deferrals.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations and resolve variances on balance sheets and income statements.
  • Partner with various teams to understand project activity and financial results.
  • Review project financials for trends and discrepancies, providing explanations to management.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes under tight deadlines.
  • Assist with audits by providing relevant documentation and analysis.
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and controls for increased accuracy.
