As a core member of the Electrical Engineering team, the Programmer II designs, builds, and unleashes advanced control programs that power high-impact, customer-driven automation solutions. Requirements

  • Education & Experience: We’re looking for candidates with an Associate’s Degree and 7–12 years of hands-on experience, a Bachelor’s Degree with 3–8 years, or a Master’s Degree with 0–6 years—your skills and real-world impact matter most.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated mastery of core products, technologies, and industry standards, with the ability to apply knowledge to design, troubleshoot, and optimize advanced control and automation systems.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of translating complex requirements into practical, high-performance solutions.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Comfortable working cross-functionally, leading initiatives, and providing guidance to ensure projects meet quality, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Continuous Learning: Passion for staying ahead of industry trends, embracing new technologies, and applying best practices to keep systems and solutions at the cutting edge.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and unleash advanced control systems—ladder logic, PLC, and PC-based platforms—that power GFS’s most complex automation.
  • Set the standard for power, wiring, and control design, executing fast, clean, and efficient solutions under tight timelines.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and optimize live equipment remotely, keeping systems running and customers moving.
  • Engineer end-to-end automation solutions by tightly integrating hardware and software into cohesive, high-performance systems.
  • Translate raw equipment requests into clear, actionable design specifications that drive flawless execution.
  • Design intuitive, operator-friendly control systems, including HMIs and touchscreen interfaces, that elevate the user experience.
  • Stay on the cutting edge of industrial controls and their application within the finishing industry.
  • Step in when it matters most—supporting commissioning, preventive maintenance, emergency response, warranty, repair, and technical direction for industrial electrical systems.
  • Lead and collaborate across disciplines to solve tough challenges, improve cost and quality, and keep products on track and on time.
