Position Specific Description This position requires the application of acquired software design skills and an aptitude for developing and maintaining real-time monitoring, work automation, and problem detection, n-tier applications. This job involves working with other developers and power generation specialists in providing solutions to solve challenges in supporting a large power generation fleet while working with streaming data, databases, and work ticket tracking systems. The candidate in this job will apply experience in performing activities including requirements gathering, scope definition, functional specifications, database design, code development, support, and troubleshooting etc. In addition, candidate needs to be flexible enough to work independently or in a small team setting, will require attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to keep up with changing business needs and be able to work directly with customers

Requirements

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 1+ years

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing, designing, developing, testing, debuggin, implementing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing new and existing software
  • Supporting software written by others to ensure team and department objectives are met
  • Consulting with customers to understand problems and developing potential solutions in a solo or collaborative environment based on scope
  • Collaborating with IT and other business units when necessary to develop compliant applications
  • Maintaining awareness of new technology and collaborating how to integrate into team solutions when applicable
  • Employing good software development practices for creating, editing and managing code
  • Developing time estimates for developing solutions based on best practices in software development
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned
  • Supports daily system operations within a specify discipline on a continual basis
  • Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications consistently to specifications and development standards per specific discipline
  • Writes programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary
  • Assists in defining software development project plans, including scopes, schedules, and implementation
  • Liaises with network administrators, systems analysts, database administrators, external vendors, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems
  • Develops an understanding of relevant system administration tasks including backup/recovery of systems and disaster recovery
  • Designs, runs and monitors software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
  • Conducts research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement, development and maintenance efforts
  • Meets attendance and storm duty requirements and has the ability to work extended hours
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
