About The Position

The Program Underwriter monitors underwriting and claims activity of MGUs, reviewing applications, denials, quotes, and bound policies to ensure compliance with authority, processes, and market guidelines. Reporting to the Underwriting Manager, they work with leadership and key departments to identify trends and issues. They document all monitoring activities and provide quantitative and qualitative assessments. The role also builds strong relationships with MGU underwriters and reinsurance partners, communicating insights and opportunities. The goal is to support business growth and improve underwriting results for Clear Blue and its stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of in-depth industry knowledge of the Insurance market
• Knowledge and proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, and guidelines.
• Ability to work with large data sets, analyze, process, visualize and communicate quantitative information.
• Knowledge of relational databases, with a preference for MS-SQL Server, is a plus
• Keeps abreast of market environment and trends.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Comfortable providing quick responses and managing fluctuating workload.
• Willingness to expend extra efforts to cover peak workload.

Nice To Haves

• CPCU, AU, or CIC certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform catastrophe risk analyses, review, and verify results, and prepare the necessary reporting.
• Actively monitor metrics including but not limited to territory growth, retention, and profitability goals.
• Develop plans to engage the Managing General Agent, Claims Administrator, and Reinsurers.
• Maintain relationships with agencies, claims, and reinsurance partners.
• Conduct file audits to ensure underwriting practices are compliant with set policies.
