About The Position

The Program Support Officer provides program coordination and direct assistance to the Program Support & Improvement (PSI) Section Supervisor, Inspector General, and Division Bureau Chiefs. The incumbent organizes, tracks, and monitors the nonprofit hospital community benefit reporting and database; takes the primary role in the Montana radiation program, particularly radiation machine registration and assisting with mammography inspector communications and federal mammography facility inspection contract; provides database development, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the Office of Inspector General (OIG) database programs; assists with other PSI Section activities including but not limited to ensuring ADA compliance and OIG website maintenance, updating annual healthcare facility reports, and assisting with division administrative duties. Responsibilities include assisting with implementation of new projects, policy updates and procedure changes, creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets and reports, tracking legislation affecting OIG, and working on special projects assigned. The position provides technical and research support for the OIG management team on specific health care issues as needed. Research performed includes the continuous review and assimilation of health care industry trends, laws, and other issues affecting Montana healthcare planning. The position is responsible for assisting with the design and utilization of appropriate survey tools to assess the status of Montana healthcare services and facilities, and the design, use, and maintenance of healthcare databases. This position provides advice and technical assistance to department management, as well as other state and local leadership on OIG program processes. Requirements

  • Knowledge of program support processes, procedures, and methods.
  • Knowledge of federal and state program rules and policies.
  • Knowledge of Department of Public Health and Human Services programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking.
  • Detail oriented and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful and take initiative when needed.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, public administration, human services, social services, or a related field.
  • Two years of job-related work experience.
  • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
