The School of Animal Sciences (SAS) seeks an administrative assistant to provide support to the office of undergraduate education. The essential duties to the operation of the unit include recordkeeping and communication with faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities include: providing administrative support for the Undergraduate Program Director(s) and other employees, maintaining confidential information, serving as first and main point of contact for the SAS undergraduate education office (greeting visitors, answering questions, directing to other offices as needed, etc.), organizing and managing databases related to the undergraduate programs, billing students for SAS undergraduate programs such as equitation courses and study abroad programs, and creating reports related to the undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will lead mass communication (undergraduate webpages, Canvas sites associated with the undergraduate program, undergraduate student listserv(s), newsletters, flyers, etc.) with current and prospective students, and provide quality service to undergraduate students and faculty to support recruiting, retention, on-time graduation, and job placement for SAS undergraduate majors. Process and maintain/update student forms and other paperwork; assist in evaluation of student assignments associated with the undergraduate program, such as Hokie GPS planners, etc.; participate in School events/recruitment activities as assigned (may require working outside normal business hours). Carry out administrative duties such as filing, shredding, copying, binding, scanning, answering questions, ordering office supplies, etc.
