About The Position

Join the Black Cultural Zone CDC as a Floating Specialist, Community Engagement and Economic Programs! Are you a dynamic professional ready to serve in multiple roles—from facilitator and consultant to analyst and manager—to drive results across various community and economic initiatives? The Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation (BCZ CDC) is seeking a Floating Specialist, Community Engagement and Economic Programs, with a demonstrated track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating multiple initiatives. As a 'Floating' Specialist, you will contribute to various initiatives, programs, and plans, adapting your expertise as needed to support the dynamic requirements of our programs, plans, and initiatives. This position is vital for advancing BCZ CDC's mission to unapologetically center Black arts, culture, and economics in East Oakland and to guide the organization toward sustainability and maximizing its mission impact. We are seeking someone who is connected to and has a love for the East Oakland community. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Floating Specialist, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of program facilitation and subject-matter expertise across our Community and Economic Development teams.

Requirements

  • Experience & Specialized Skills: Requires 3-5 years of experience in coalition building, facilitation, or relevant areas. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives is required.
  • Abilities: Must be skilled in meeting and group facilitation. Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to analyze data and identify trends. Strong organizational skills and the ability to efficiently manage time to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using various software applications, databases, and project management tools. Technologically savvy, with strong word and data processing, spreadsheet, email, and project management software familiarity.

  • Desired Qualities: Ability to provide expert advice or guidance on specific areas of expertise. Must demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and evolving program requirements. Exposure to diverse stakeholder engagement and management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Program Facilitation: Oversee the implementation and execution of programs, managing resources, and ensuring timely, on-budget delivery.
  • Design and Evaluation: Lead the designing, implementing, and evaluating of multiple initiatives , including setting goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Stakeholder & Risk Management: Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders (participants, funders) and identify and mitigate risks that could impact the program.
  • Specialized Focus: Serve in multiple roles (facilitator, consultant, navigator, analyst, coach, etc.) focusing on areas like community engagement, cultural markets (AKOMA Market), business/entrepreneurship, and career/workforce navigation.
  • Data & Reporting: Track progress, conduct regular evaluations, analyze, present, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Documentation & Planning: Take the lead in creating and updating initiative briefs, implementation plans (roadmaps), and submitting documentation to designated folders and deliverables trackers.
  • Quality & Improvement: Ensure programs meet quality standards and continuously monitor and assess the program to implement changes as needed.
