About The Position

To coordinate, provide and make available desired expertise in the best practices of instruction and curriculum research-based strategies to help schools achieve desired priorities in response to needs and disparities identified at the school and classroom level.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution required, Ed Leadership or related education areas preferred.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or have applied to obtain a Florida teaching certificate.
  • One (1) year coaching or teacher leader experience to include leading professional learning and using coaching competences.
  • Three (3) years of teaching required.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning processes.
  • Knowledge of organization and management theory and practice.
  • Knowledge and commitment to decentralized decision-making and accountability for results that facilitate creative processes toward achievement of district expected results.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the distinction between line and staff positions and functions within an organization.
  • Knowledge of best practices in instruction and curriculum research-based strategies.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human and financial) toward the achievement of district expected results.
  • Ability to plan and conduct professional development training for teachers and administrators.
  • Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision-making.
  • Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources toward this goal.

  • A proven track record in increasing student outcomes in a fragile school, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing and supervising the staff in terms of their performance responsibilities and productivity in achieving the district's priorities and results.
  • Develop and conduct training for school staffs related to implementation of instructional best practices with particular emphasis on minority and gender achievement gap.
  • Provide, upon request, consultations to schools on implementation of best practices in instruction and curriculum.
  • Serve as liaison with district School Transformation Office units to assure consistency of best practices and planning and collaboration required for district-wide consistency and standardization.
  • Facilitate, upon request, communication with schools and staff resolving problems and critical issues.
  • Keep Executive Area Director informed of critical issues and incidents within his/her area of responsibility about which the supervisor should be aware.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop leadership in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Manifest a professional code of ethics and values.
  • Respond to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
  • Model the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
