About The Position

Performs complex consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing an agency program; providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the public; and providing guidance to others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, English, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required five years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
  • Five years full-time, wage-earning criminal justice, program administration, management information systems, data analysis, report writing, or auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes related to the program area.
  • Knowledge of techniques to effectively monitor agency programs.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.
  • Skill to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts.
  • Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines.
  • Skill to train others.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Data management, data analysis, or auditing experience preferred.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to and collaborates in the planning, development, and implementation, analysis and documentation of the TDCJ Online-Learning Management System (LMS) program.
  • Collects, organizes, generates, and analyzes complex program-related data in response to requests for program information and prepares detailed reports.
  • Facilitates program assessments and audits, ensuring adherence to policies and proposing improvements.
  • Reviews and evaluates information on a service delivery system methods, outputs, and activities to identify gaps in resources and recommends improvements.
  • Provides technical assistance to others and assists in resolving technical challenges.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
