The Program Manager is responsible for the successful execution of complex flight simulator and training system programs, from contract award through delivery and sustainment. This role serves as the primary customer interface and is accountable for program performance across cost, schedule, scope, quality, and risk. Requirements

  • Experience in program or project management within aerospace, defense, or complex technical systems, including hardware, software and related documentation
  • Proven experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams and customer-facing programs
  • Strong understanding of cost, schedule, and risk management principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey quality requirements, findings, and corrective actions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently, while also collaborating effectively across departments and organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess systems and processes, identify gaps or risks, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage competing demands with professionalism.
  • Ability to handle pressure and ambiguity while maintaining focus, sound judgment, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in business, project management, aviation, engineering or similar field.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required: As a federal contractor supporting the U.S. warfighter, it is required that all employees in this role be United States citizens in compliance with government contract and security requirements.
  • Background Check: Must be able to successfully pass an initial background screening.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, as required by the position.
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Occasional overtime and alternate shifts may be required to meet customer schedules, critical deadlines, or program milestones.
  • Travel Requirements: Must be able and willing to travel domestically and, on occasion, internationally to customer sites, partner locations, or project meetings in support of contract objectives.

  • Visual acuity required to perform inspections, read drawings, specifications, and computer screens, including close vision and color differentiation.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels, temperatures, and activity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with flight simulators, training devices, or avionics systems
  • Knowledge of aviation regulatory and qualification processes
  • Experience with military or government contracts
  • Experience in the management of programs requiring Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and techniques
  • PMP or equivalent program management certification

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end program execution for full flight simulators (FFS), flight training devices (FTD), and other complex training systems
  • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Coordinate cross-functional program teams within a matrix organization and ensure alignment with program objectives
  • Drive accountability for cost, schedule, technical performance, and customer satisfaction
  • For assigned programs, act as the primary point of contact for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Lead program reviews, status briefings, and milestone meetings
  • Manage customer expectations, contract changes, and scope negotiations
  • Build long-term customer relationships through proactive communication and issue resolution
  • Manage program profit and loss, including revenue recognition, cost control, and margin performance
  • Monitor earned value, forecasts, and key financial metrics
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, export controls, and regulatory standards
  • Support proposal development, scope control activities, change orders, and contract amendments
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to manage technical scope and configuration
  • Support simulator integration, test, qualification, and delivery activities
  • Ensure program requirements are clearly understood and executed
  • Promote quality, safety, and compliance with applicable industry standards
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of program risks and opportunities
  • Lead corrective action plans for technical, schedule, or supplier issues
  • Ensure risk-related lessons learned are captured and applied to future programs
  • Capture lessons learned across program execution and apply them to future programs
  • Support process improvements to increase efficiency and execution performance
