About The Position

Program Managers (PgMs) at PagerDuty drive large scale programs and projects to success! You will be responsible for identifying the stakeholders, driving to set roadmaps and strategies for the program, leading delivery, reporting status, and holding the bar on quality. PgMs handle complex inter-team dependencies and bridge the gaps in technical management. You will need to work with many teams in different domains and will work effectively with engineers, engineering managers, product managers, customer service teams and beyond. Requirements

  • Ability to organize a new program and assemble all structural components needed to kick off and mobilize teams
  • Confidently and accurately manage cross-team dependency and risk identification and resolution
  • Able to translate technical details into useful information for non-technical Dutonians
  • Ability to communicate complex information/situations in a clear and concise manner to all levels
  • Strong influencing and networking skills with the ability to drive and take action proactively, with a focus on outcomes and deliverables
  • Able to manage up and down the org, keeping program goals at the forefront
  • Analytical, solution oriented
  • Confidence/ability to have the difficult conversations
  • Business & Financial Acumen
  • Ability to absorb a holistic understanding of the program from User to Prioritization to Delivery to Support
  • Experience with managing large-scale programs with a wide impact radius (such as migrations/deprecations etc.)
  • Ability to set up reports/dashboards such that manual effort is reduced
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience in matrixed software development organizations
  • Jira power user
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Have a deep understanding of agile principles and how to apply them effectively
  • Experience with common software development methodologies and standards

  • Work experience in a fast growth startup environment
  • Ability to provide technical recommendations in solving software engineering challenges involving bug triage, pull requests, source control, continuous integration, etc.
  • Experience in DevOps and digital/cloud operations

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development and other department program planning, milestone and success criteria definition, resource allocation plan, and estimation leading to predictable delivery
  • Analyze large data sets quickly to identify complex patterns and relationships resulting in practical solutions to real business problems
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, providing escalation management and making tradeoffs
  • Identify unstructured problems and drive technical and operational improvement, business strategies, and technical solutions across teams
  • Provide technical contribution working with cross functional teams to surface dependencies, risks, mitigation plans, and estimation refinement.
  • Collaborate closely with departments to drive iterative process improvements
  • Leverage tools and processes to improve productivity in support of the program
  • Communicate successes, schedules, priorities, issues and overall program health to all levels in the company
  • Create, track, and drive critical path, flagging and managing risks, dependencies and decisions that affect the program
  • Drive program alignment on present and future outcomes that support company’s strategy
  • Manage program financials related to capitalization
  • Creation and distribution of impactful automated reporting
