About The Position

The Program Manager at Baker Engineering is responsible for leading complex, high-impact engineering programs from concept through delivery. This role requires a strategic and results-driven leader who can manage multiple projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure programs meet customer expectations, schedule, cost, and quality objectives. The Program Manager serves as the primary customer interface, drives alignment across engineering, operations, and business teams, and ensures compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS9100 standards. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership to deliver innovative solutions in a fast-paced, global environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Industrial Technology, or a relevant field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with financial tools and metrics (EBITDA, NPV, Payback, etc.).
  • Proven experience leading multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and concept development skills.
  • Knowledge of government and OEM specifications in area of expertise.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to coordinate multiple tasks across departments to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with global manufacturing and supply chains.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, present effectively, and provide leadership.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Proven track record of delivering results while maximizing program margins from award.
  • Familiarity with engineering design processes, material and part inventory tracking, timelines, cost monitoring, and database management.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings; competency in CAD and GD&T.
  • Understanding of Lean principles.
  • Plant experience required.
  • Positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and AS-9100 certifications.
  • United States Citizenship required by contract.

Responsibilities

  • Manage highly complex engineering projects from initiation to completion.
  • Proactively oversee product programs to ensure timing, cost, and team objectives are met for all customers and Baker Engineering milestones.
  • Identify and communicate barriers to successful program completion to the leadership team regularly and to Executive Management as needed.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, interfacing with all internal departments to monitor project status and ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure projects meet expectations.
  • Act as the primary customer contact for program activities; lead program review sessions with stakeholders to highlight cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Deliver on key metrics, including quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Develop and maintain master program schedules aligning product configuration, cost, performance, and timing with customer requirements.
  • Conduct all phase and gate reviews.
  • Support Operational Security (OPSEC) plans and contribute to future security strategies.
  • Ensure program planning aligns product development with established program objectives and company needs.
  • Recommend, monitor, and update quality systems to improve efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers, Baker Engineering staff, and WDC Operations at all levels.
  • Create and maintain program management standard working files (e.g., MCT, Cost-Price tracker, Add/Delete tracker, Tool tracker).
  • Support internal and external audits related to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 certification.
  • Ensure employees work safely and in compliance with established objectives, protective equipment, and regulatory requirements. Conduct safety meetings and training as required.
  • Foster an organizational culture promoting teamwork and commitment to service across a diverse workforce.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
