We’re looking for a Program Manager who enjoys working across teams on innovative, fast‑moving, cross‑functional programs. In this role, you’ll help bring customer experiences like Starbucks Digital Solutions (POS and Loyalty) to life across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), while also supporting regional operations services projects and initiatives. The right person for this role is a strong communicator who’s comfortable partnering with senior stakeholders both internally and with licensee partners. You bring solid project management experience, enjoy improving processes, can break down complex problems, and stay organized while juggling multiple priorities. This role is ideally based in Miami (Coral Gables), though Seattle is also an option. You’ll be working primarily on an Eastern Time (EST) schedule.

Requirements

  • 8 yrs application of industry-based project management methodologies and tools.
  • 8 yrs managing complex large-scale business projects.
  • 8 yrs building and mentoring teams.
  • 6 yrs Mentoring other project managers in program and project management.
  • 8 yrs General business experience in large, matrixed organizations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% internationally
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

  • Fluency in Spanish strongly desired. Portuguese also preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Complex Projects - Ability to manage competing priorities and adjust to changes in scope/priority with a positive & productive attitude. Lead cross functional project teams.
  • Design Process - Analyze problems, identify issues, summarize findings, recommend courses of action, and lead the team in designing & implementing new processes.
  • Project Management - Contribute to the development of standards, processes, tools and training to support the development of core projects in LAC Ops Services. Mentor partners who want to develop project management skills.
  • Courage & Influence - Build relationships with stakeholders to provide strategic and tactical advice on program/project planning and execution. Not afraid to challenge the status quo and face the tough conversations when projects may not be meeting the deliverables.
  • Program Planning, Governance & Alignment
  • Collaborate with dynamic stakeholders to define program scope, deliverables, and critical paths; develop schedule, budget, and resource plan.
  • Implement a governance and reporting structure; optimize talent, materials, and budget across the program; help define program costs and secure funding.
  • Collaborate with IT and business leadership on annual strategic planning; with the program portfolio manager, drive project ideation and support business cases/ROI.
  • Ensure proposed projects align to the program roadmap and goals, and to business unit/functional/company strategies; communicate alignment to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of projects within the program and the broader IT portfolio, including cross program synergies and dependencies.
  • Program Execution & Delivery
  • Autonomously and appropriately applies knowledge, processes, skills, tools and techniques to meet program goals.
  • Oversee day to day planning and management of one or more programs in the IT portfolio (SDS); lead multiple efforts simultaneously (with complexity as a limiting factor).
  • Serve as project manager for initiatives; perform core PM duties (approval & funding gates; detailed budget, timeline, task driven schedule, RACI, resource and communication plans); manage analysis/design → build → test → deployment.
  • When leading Agile, partner closely with the scrum master and product owner; partner with functional managers to ensure required skillsets and resources.
  • Bring people together to collaborate across functions; remove roadblocks and address future impediments; nimbly adapt to shifting priorities while assessing overall program health.
  • Ensure status reports and quarterly updates are relevant, transparent, and add value.
  • Process & Standards Design
  • Analyze problems, identify issues, summarize findings, recommend actions, and lead the team in designing and implementing new processes.
  • Contribute to standards, processes, tools and training supporting core projects in LAC Ops Services; mentor partners developing project management skills.
  • Influences and advances of project and program management methodologies at Starbucks.

  • Technical & Tool Acumen
  • Remains current and shares expert level knowledge on project and program management standards and methodologies; deep understanding of technology programs and portfolio management practices; expert level knowledge of project lifecycle management.
  • Clear understanding of project activities: solution analysis & design; enterprise, solution & infrastructure architecture; systems integration; data conversion & migration; environment management & build processes; deployment planning & execution.
  • Expertise in project and program managment tools; advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheet, Tableau, Power BI a strong plus.
  • Financial Planning & Funding
  • You will leverage your financial expertise by helping to define program costs and secure program funding.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
  • For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
