About The Position

The Program Manager oversees GA’s youth substance abuse prevention programing (with a focus on opioids) and leads in-school; out-of-school and community-based substance abuse prevention programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health Administration, Social Work, Psychology, or closely related discipline required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in community, outreach and program implementation.
  • Must have at least 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as deemed necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with evidence-based substance abuse treatment models and culturally relevant adaptations for the target community.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competence and ability to work effectively with youth and adult volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational efficiency, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong prioritization, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Extensive knowledge of community and social services in Broward County
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must have access to a licensed, insured personal vehicle at all times during work hours for reliable transportation.
  • Mileage reimbursement will be provided for the use of personal vehicles as part of work-related travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the outreach and recruitment of middle and high school participants for in and out-of-school programming.
  • Supervise a team and provide oversight of program planning and implementation.
  • Oversee and support facilitation of evidence-based curricula to students.
  • Identify and select comprehensive, data-driven prevention strategies that work most effectively to prevent and reduce alcohol/marijuana//opioid abuse and abuse-related problems.
  • Serve as a liaison between Gang Alternative, Inc., local schools, and social service agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements/obligations.
  • Prepare program reports, including those that are funder-prescribed.
  • Ensure effective administration of substance use assessments and mental health assessments that identify service needs and recommend options for care.
  • Ensure that assessment findings are shared with program participants and their families.
  • Oversee case management services to assist participants/clients and their families with access to needed services.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices within the substance abuse prevention and opioid addiction crisis intervention arenas.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships (including via coordination and facilitation of meetings) with community leaders, business community, and other partner organizations.
  • Attend and facilitate meetings with affinity groups, particularly those involved in substance abuse prevention and intervention representing the organization in a professional manner.
  • Serves as an Ambassador of Gang Alternative, Inc.
