About The Position

The Manager of Selling and Engagement plays a pivotal role in activating Staples' customer-first selling culture across all retail stores. This role supports the execution of key selling programs, drives associate engagement initiatives, and manages critical field communications. You will collaborate closely with field leaders and cross-functional partners to drive selling excellence and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in retail sales, customer engagement, or field operations.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated passion for retail, customer experience, and associate development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the rollout and execution of national selling programs and engagement initiatives across all stores.
  • Partner with Field Leadership to reinforce selling behaviors and drive program adoption.
  • Monitor program performance, providing feedback for improvement and scalability.
  • Maintain and update the annual selling calendar, ensuring alignment with sales targets and seasonal priorities.
  • Champion the Engagement Model, helping associates connect with customers to deliver a Total Solution.
  • Identify and spotlight top-performing associates and stores to share best practices and success stories.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to support training and embed selling behaviors into development programs.
  • Coordinate internal messaging and communication cadence for store-level selling initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between stores and corporate teams, ensuring field feedback informs program evolution.
  • Assist in creating storyboards, presentations, and field-facing materials that support selling and engagement efforts.
  • Track and report on key selling metrics (e.g., ESP Pen, PC Basket, Printer Basket, Chair Basket, Kiosk orders).
  • Analyze performance trends and identify opportunities to close gaps in selling effectiveness.
  • Support ROI modeling and success metric tracking for all selling investments and initiatives.
