About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our Staples Accounting team. This part-time role (20 hours per week) plays a key role in supporting month-end close and preparation of our financial statements and processes, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and managing gift card replenishment. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting, while maintaining compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will contribute to the Center of Excellence supporting Retail and NAD businesses. You are a part of a culture that encourages continuous improvement and professional growth. Requirements

  • 0–2 years of accounting experience; foundational knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain a two-day close schedule.
  • Analyze accounts through balance sheet reconciliation processes.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop and maintain accounting processes and controls.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
  • Manage operational duties related to gift card stock replenishment, including vendor order placement.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
