About The Position

The Program Manager, Principal is responsible for the oversight and execution of complex strategic and operational projects with significant financial impact owned by the Provider Partnerships and Network Management team. This role interfaces with cross-functional peers and leaders to plan and execute initiatives and ensure delivery of intended results. This role will also assist the Director, Strategic Planning and Performance, with managing the full portfolio of strategic projects, coordinating across an extended team of project managers and business drivers to ensure portfolio success. The Program Manager, Principal will report to the Director, Strategic Planning and Performance. Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • 5+ years’ experience managing complex projects or programs required
  • Prior healthcare project management experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, directors, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint in preparing and making presentations to various levels of management
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and deliver results in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to drive complex projects and processes independent ly

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration or Master of Public Health preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • Lean/Six Sigma, Agile certifications preferred
  • Health plan experience strongly preferred
  • Experience leading projects with significant IT implementation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support ongoing complex programs that may involve multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Direct project teams to develop project materials such as project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
  • Operate at a strategic business level to ensure projects/initiatives are in line with Blue Shield of California strategic goals
  • Support departmental prioritization, budget allocation, governance, and monitoring process to ensure appropriate dollars are allocated to prioritized work.
  • Manage milestone delivery and mitigate impact across portfolio dependencies
