Job Title: Program Manager – Emergency Shelter Services(ESS) Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Reports to: Director of Emergency and Residential Services Full or Part-time: Full-time Completion Date: January 2024 Team: Center for Women and Children Position Summary: The Program Manager position supports the objectives of Wheeler Mission and is responsible for the facilitation, oversight, and development of Wheeler Mission Programs in collaboration with the Emergency Shelter Services Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 4 years of successful experience in Case Management or Biblical Counseling (6 or more years preferred)
  • Exceptional communication skills and knowledge of general life skills to assist guests in achieving long-term goals and building relationships with outside organizations.
  • Knowledgeable about community housing resources and help guests connect to housing.
  • Best practices in case management and faith-based concepts to serve guests with excellence.
  • De-escalation, Trauma Informed Care, Mental Health Support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn new software: HRIS software (Paycom) and Mission Tracker
  • Belief in the inerrancy of the Holy Bible

  • To perform the essential job functions of this position, a candidate must be capable of performing many physical functions including: Walking short distances with the ability to ascend and descend stairs. Physical dexterity sufficient to type and operate standard office equipment. Physical ability to perform normal office functions with the endurance to remain standing for long periods of time. Strength to lift office supplies and equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be flexible, with potential for working evenings and/or weekends.
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and have a driving record without major moving violations, including convictions for DUI, Reckless Driving, or Driving While Suspended. Must be insurable according to standards established by Wheeler Mission’s risk management insurance agency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision for ESS Programs, ensuring that all program elements are completed by guests.
  • Provides direct supervision to program staff, meeting time management approval deadlines, and conducts performance reviews.
  • Facilitate, oversee, and develop programs.
  • Facilitate staff meeting as necessary.
  • Assist staff with monitoring/serving guests.
  • Build and maintain community relationships.
  • Implement and maintain Program Manuals to guide program activities.
  • Collaborate with Director and staff to identify concerns and problems and present possible solutions.
  • Update the Resident Tracker documentation database to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Equip staff for programmatic excellence within their position parameters.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of approved program policies and functions.
  • Interact professionally with staff, guests, and the public.
  • Complete daily and monthly reports, demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment using grace-based, trauma-informed, and strengths-focused techniques.
  • Compile and send various reports and effectively be able to communicate the reports to others.
