The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Air Force lead agent for the National Search and Rescue Satellite Aided tracking program (SARSAT) and First Air Force (Air Forces Northern) command level senior program manager with responsibility for analyzing, developing, organizing, coordination, and executing SAR system upgrades and interfaces between the national program and the operational rescue community.

  • Serves as USAF lead agent, command project officer, and subject matter expert for all matters related to SARSAT evolution, upgrades, interaction and operations.
  • Acts as Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) assistant director in support of the JFACC/CFACC mission for the USNORTHCOM Commander.
  • Represents the USAF and command in national, international, and local meetings with regard to Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) operations and planning activities.
  • Serves as the Unit Reserve coordinator and primary point of contact between Individual Mobilization Augmentees (IMAs), commander, 1AF CCS, Langley Det 8 and Base IMA administrator.
  • Prepares and delivers written and oral presentation such as briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in operations.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Military tactical (rated) aviation experience (2000 hours) is required.
  • Top Secret (TS>SCI) Clearance is required.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This position requires gaining and maintaining certification as an Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) SAR Controller/Watch supervisor and completion of the USAF Inland Search Planning Course if not already a graduate.
  • Catastrophic SAR Command and Control experience (preferably aeronautical SAR experience within the last five years) is desired.
  • Air Operations Center (AOC) and JPRC experience is highly desired.
