About The Position

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain project, program and portfolio management experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to organizational processes and best practices for management of drug development programs through the entire lifecycle from early development through regulatory approval. The Program Management team has a strong reputation in the industry for leading multi-disciplinary teams in developing new medicines and supporting the organization in strategic management of the portfolio and pipeline.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree with an interest in biotechnology
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively and be a team player
  • Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bring to the Company a skill set complementary to its technology and development therapeutics
  • Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
  • Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Managers with management of drug development programs, which may include project scheduling and timelines, Gantt charts, reporting, risk management, project documentation and meeting management.
  • Assist with development of new or improved processes for standardizing program and portfolio management practices.
  • Use specialized project management software, such as Smartsheet and OnePager, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, to create reports, timelines and diagrams to facilitate communication of program and portfolio status across the organization.
  • Interacting with diverse functions within the organization, including non-clinical and clinical development, pharmacology, drug substance and drug product development (CMC), regulatory affairs, quality and others.
  • Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
  • Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
