As a Health and Wellness Director, you will develop, promote and implement health and wellness classes and programs to support members in their fitness/wellness journey, encourage and motivate members to look at fitness as a positive element of a healthy lifestyle as well as lead and coach staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Enhances member relations and retention by developing, promoting, implementing and overseeing innovative, cutting edge health and wellness programming including but not limited to group exercise, nutrition, personal training, specialized programs and incentive programs that encourage participation. Stays up to date with new exercise and health and wellness formats and proposes ideas to maintain a dynamic schedule that continues to evolve and meet the needs of members while at the same time growing membership and driving retention. Ensures all wellness equipment in studios and on wellness floor is safe and of adequate condition. Assumes overall responsibility for the tidiness and cleanliness of the wellness floor to meet the highest standards of health and safety. Observes and assesses situations within programs for safety, security and to detect adherence to policies. Communicates with and develops actions plans with participants, parents/guardians, school partners, etc. as needed. Teaches classes as needed. Assumes a lead role in the Post Join process to support member retention. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs. Implements continuous program improvement processes and establishes new program activities as needed to better serve community members, YMCA members and program participants. Directly carries out supervisory responsibilities to effectively manage personnel in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; auditing and appraising performance; approving and reporting payroll; conducting staff meetings; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
