About The Position

Cedars of Marin provides day programs and residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1919, our exceptional person-centered programs nurture creative, productive, joyful, and healthy lives. Cedars Textile Art Collaborative (TAC) offers Cedars clients fun, inspiring, creative day programs. We are currently looking for a compassionate, skillful part-time Program Instructor in both our Senior and Garden Programs! As an Instructor in the Senior program, you will work with retired individuals to determine and plan their daily activities, which may include community-based projects, volunteer opportunities, and on-site music and art projects. If you have experience in gardening and the patience to help others learn more about gardens, you will have the opportunity to work as a TAC Garden Instructor in our Garden program on Fridays! The TAC Program is set on more than 2 dozen acres that overlook San Anselmo. The remote, beautiful property includes a community garden, art barn studio space, upgraded kitchen, weaving studio and more! This position will require some degree of hands on caregiving (help with personal hygiene, toileting, etc.), to the extent that a participant requires. The hours for the Senior Instructor are Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. / The hours for the Garden Instructor are Fridays from 8 AM - 4:00 PM. The rate of pay is $21.75/hour. The idea candidate would be interested in Instructing in both our Senior and Garden programs.

Requirements

  • Experience working with developmentally disabled people is preferred.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn to provide direct caregiving when needed.
  • Experience leading, advising, organizing, and motivating groups of people.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • The ability to teach and provide skills in the program areas offered at TAC.
  • Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
  • Ability to pass an employment physical including a TB test, and to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • A valid DMV driver's license, a minimum of 3 years of driving experience, and a willingness to drive a passenger van.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications or the willingness to acquire both.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check with the FBI and DOJ.
