About The Position

S:US is seeking a Program Director for our families with children shelter located in Bronx. This position is lacated at East 178th Street, Bronx, NY 10457 Position Overview The Program Director provides overall leadership and management of a DHS‑funded family shelter, overseeing program start‑up, daily operations, and service delivery in compliance with city, state, and federal regulations and S:US policies. This role is responsible for fiscal oversight, data integrity, incident and crisis management, regulatory reporting, and ensuring health and safety compliance while supervising program leadership and direct care staff. The Program Director supports staff development, hiring, and training, maintains on‑call coverage, and ensures all program operations align with the agency’s mission and core values, including availability during evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the human services field is required Masters degree preffered.
  • 3-5 years of management experience in a large shelter or residential facility that provides comprehensive social services, housing placement, and job skills training to the homeless, mentally ill, and chemically dependent populations.
  • Knowledge of resources for housing, children, domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse,
  • Experience in NYC Dept. of Homeless Services contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee program and ongoing operations in accordance with DHS contractual requirements and S:US guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable city, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and mandated reporting requirements
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and performance evaluations to program managers and supervisory staff
  • Manage program budget, expenditures, and resource allocation
  • Develop, implement, and enforce program policies, procedures, and administrative protocols
  • Oversee incident and crisis management systems and ensure timely reporting and resolution
  • Ensure staff certifications and trainings (CPR/First Aid, Fire Safety, Mandated Reporting) remain current and compliant
  • Monitor service delivery, documentation, client data integrity, and internal chart reviews
  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and professional development of program staff
  • Complete required reports for agency leadership and funding sources, including program outcomes and census data
  • Facilitate staff meetings, case conferences, and participate in division management meetings as needed
  • Maintain on‑call coverage and ensure contingency plans are in place to support 24/7 program operations
