The Riverside Regional Medical Center Department of Medical Education, is currently recruiting an Internal Medicine Residency Program Director to lead our anticipated Internal Medicine Residency Program. The Riverside Internal Medicine Residency Program Director is responsible for providing an educational experience enabling resident physicians to obtain the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to practice independently, to pursue sub-specialty training, or to become innovative leaders in Internal medicine administration, education, and research. The Program Director ensures delivery of education and skill-building opportunities in the program for residents to achieve certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine. The Program Director develops, conducts, and oversees the residency program in accordance with requirements of Riverside’s Graduate Medical Education Committee and the ACGME Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee, and, overall, provides the faculty, facilities, support services, equipment, and educational resources to achieve the goals and objectives of the program and to maintain program accreditation. The Program Director reports directly to the Riverside Designated Institutional Official and indirectly to the Riverside Regional Medical Center Director of Internal Medicine. The successful candidate will be board certified in Internal medicine and eligible for licensure in Virginia. The applicant should have academic credentials demonstrated excellence in scholarship, teaching and mentoring, and clinical care. Facility Information: Riverside Regional Medical Center has been serving the healthcare needs of the Virginia Peninsula community and surrounding counties since 1916. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsula's most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Internal Department and Level II Trauma Center responds to more than 67,000+ emergencies annually. There is no shortage of Internal medicine care. Our experienced, board-certified physicians and highly-trained staff are passionate about the community and the care they provide. The Internal Medicine Residency Program Director will receive adequate protected time to create the infrastructure for a new, first-class training program. Program Information 13 residents per year. Requirements

  • Board certification in Internal medicine
  • Eligible for licensure in Virginia
  • Academic credentials demonstrated excellence in scholarship, teaching and mentoring, and clinical care.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Internal medicine residency program and demonstrated experience in a graduate medical education leadership role.
  • Previous leadership/administrative experience, strong administrative and team-building skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, scholarship in medical education.
  • Willingness to combine administrative and teaching responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with national (e.g. ACGME, NRMP) and local requirements (Riverside and Riverside GME Committee).
  • Board certification in Internal medicine (ABEM or AOBEM) and eligible for licensure in the state of Virginia.
  • All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring delivery of education and skill-building opportunities in the program for residents to achieve certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Developing, conducting, and overseeing the residency program in accordance with requirements of Riverside’s Graduate Medical Education Committee and the ACGME Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee
  • Providing the faculty, facilities, support services, equipment, and educational resources to achieve the goals and objectives of the program and to maintain program accreditation.
