About The Position

Maryland Energy Advisors (MDEA) is a rapidly growing energy management firm supporting many of the region’s largest businesses, including real estate owners, restaurants, manufacturers, and other commercial and institutional partners. We also provide consulting services to utilities nationwide. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly capable Program Data Analyst to support the successful delivery and performance of our utility energy efficiency programs. In this role, you will play a central part in translating program activities into actionable insights. You will work closely with program managers, operations staff, subcontractors, and utility partners to ensure project data is accurate, performance is transparent, and reporting requirements are met. This role blends data analysis with project coordination, supporting programs from pipeline development through project closeout. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, economics, environmental studies, business administration, or a related field; Equivalent experience may be considered (1 year of experience may substitute for one year of education)
  • At least one to three years of professional experience in data analyst program analytics or performance reporting preferably within energy efficiency, utilities, consulting, or public sector programs
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data validation; Experience with PowerPoint and Outlook required
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze datasets, identify trends, and clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and data sources simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally for meetings, inspections, or program events as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with energy efficiency, demand-side management, or utility-sponsored programs.
  • Familiarity with inspection workflows, quality assurance processes, or field operations related to construction, HVAC, lighting, or building performance.
  • Experience using data visualization or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar).
  • Experience working with large datasets, program tracking systems, or CRM/project management platforms.
  • Background in project coordination, operations analysis, or performance management.
  • Knowledge of energy savings calculations, incentive programs, or regulatory reporting is a plus.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to improve processes through data-driven insights.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and consistency.
  • Commitment to sound business ethics, including discretion and protection of confidential and proprietary information.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze program performance data to track participation, project flow, savings, and progress toward energy efficiency and GHG reduction goals
  • Develop, maintain, and refine recurring reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analysis to support internal management, utility clients, and regulatory reporting needs
  • Support forecasting and pipeline analysis by monitoring trends, identifying risk or gaps, and flagging issues that may impact program targets or timelines
  • Coordinate with program operations, field staff, and service providers to ensure project data is accurate, complete, and aligned across tracking programs
  • Support project coordination activities, including tracking project milestones, monitoring inspection status, and helping move projects through review, approval, and closeout
  • Assist with inspection related data tracking and quality control by reviewing inspection outcomes, identifying recurring issues, and supporting corrective actions as needed
  • Serve as a liaison between data, operations, and field teams to translate analytical findings into actionable insights that improve execution and decision making
  • Maintain organized program documentation, data sets, and tracking tools to ensure data integrity, audit readiness, and compliance with program and utility requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement related to data collection, reporting efficiency, project coordination, and overall program operations
  • Support onboarding and ongoing coordination with subcontractors by helping ensure data submission requirements, reporting expectations, and performance metrics are clearly understood
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful program delivery and organizational goals
