About The Position

Wofford College is seeking a Program Coordinator for its Office for Civil Rights, Compliance, and Community Initiatives. The Program Coordinator will provide administrative and logistical support for community outreach and educational programming offered by the college’s Lifelong Learning program, Title IX office, and the Office of the Chief Equity Officer and Vice President for Community Initiatives. The Program Coordinator reports to the Chief Equity Officer and Vice President for Community Initiatives but will work closely and regularly with both the Director of Lifelong Learning and Title IX Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with departments across campus to support community programming. The ideal candidate will understand and support the Office for Civil Rights, Compliance, and Community Initiatives’ mission to provide in-person and virtual programming that serves Wofford and the broader Spartanburg community. The ideal candidate will be able to think critically, write effectively, collaborate with campus and community partners, provide complex event planning support with minimal direct supervision, and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced educational environment. This is a ten-month position that will run August-May.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in an administrative or events-focused role
  • Comfort and proficiency managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheets, databases, and mail merge functions
  • Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and accountability
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Customer service mindset and ability to interact with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to support a wide range of functions
  • Must be flexible and able to work through frequent interruptions
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. and manage occasional physical event setup

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in higher education or nonprofit settings.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the office’s point of contact with the Office for Marketing and Communications for project requests.
  • Act as a point of contact with Facilities and the Office of Campus Events for event scheduling and set-up.
  • Coordinate on-campus room reservations and AVI catering requests for Lifelong Learning, Title IX, and the Vice President for Community Initiatives.
  • Take initiative and solve problems, as they arise, alongside event leaders during events and peak planning times.
  • Co-coordinate seminar series including, but not limited to, Aging in Spartanburg and Senior Leadership Spartanburg programs with the Director of Lifelong Learning, including assisting with series planning, logistics and communication with presenters and participants.
  • Manage the Lifelong Learning group travel program.
  • Provide support for Lifelong Learning social and special events calendar.
  • Serve as the point of contact for external guests with questions about or a need for accommodations at a community event sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Community Initiatives
  • Manage VIP and visiting speaker communication, travel arrangements, and campus itineraries.
  • Provide support for Title IX educational outreach and special event programming as requested by the Title IX Coordinator.
