About The Position

• Provide leadership and guidance to campers in all program areas. • Provide support in developing all camp games and themed skits /events • Responsible for running activities in program areas • Responsible for creating facility usage schedules (shower, trading post, trail rides, etc.) • Provide leadership and support as directed by organizing, or leading camp activities or by providing administrative office support as needed • Participate in Instructor training prior to staff training • Actively participate in staff training and staff meetings. • Assume responsibility for the heath/welfare of campers and staff entrusted to his/her charge. • Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties. • Observe camper and staff behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. • Demonstrate proper care and storage of all equipment and supplies. • Provide and ensure proper set up and cleanup of all programs and events. • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required. Weekly salary of $650.00

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous camp leadership.
  • Able to coordinate and supervise summer staff.
  • Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities-allowing for the development of personal and professional interpersonal relationships with staff, campers, parents, and others.
  • Must be committed to the mission of YMCA Camp Shady Brook and be an advocate and role model for staff and campers alike.
  • Previous experience and/or training in youth camping.
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications
