Job Summary Come and spend your summer on the Chattahoochee River at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC)! The position of Camp and Program Supervisor is a great opportunity to work on new technical skill sets while growing your leadership, supervision, communication and teamwork skills. NOC Camp and Program Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the facilitation and logistics of a day camp program with the goal to teach day campers introductory paddle sports skills, as well as facilitate guided trips with the assistance and supervision of the Camps and Program Supervisor. The Camp and Program Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics of running our Day Camp Program as well as help to coordinate the logistics of our specialty programs that include biking and paddling. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age prior to their start date and have current First Aid and CPR certifications. This is a physically demanding position and is classified as summer seasonal. Due to the seasonal demand of our business, we are looking for applicants that are available for a minimum of 3 months and are available to work until, at least, August 12th.

Requirements

  • Minimum availability between March 2026 - Oct 31th 2026
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Experience working with children
  • Valid Driver’s License, clean motor vehicle record
  • Display and maintain communication skills and the ability to motivate small and large groups of children as well as adults
  • A strong sense of guest service
  • The ability to supervise children and staff
  • Accountable for one's actions and performance
  • Enthusiasm about teaching and sharing outdoor activities with others
  • Must have the ability to take direction from supervisors and managers
  • Must have the ability to supervise and give direction to employees
  • Good judgement in decision-making
  • The ability to work well under pressure and be able to respond quickly to emergencies with appropriate judgement
  • A can-do attitude and ability to work in a teamwork-based environment
  • The ability to speak clearly and with authority while guiding and directing children
  • Ability to work some weekend shifts
  • Applicants should be able to lift 50lbs repetitively
  • Applicants should be able to ride a bike comfortably
  • Applicants should be comfortable sitting in raft for long periods of time and standing for long periods of time as well as able to bend, stoop and twist
  • Applicants should be comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)

Responsibilities

  • Execute the day-to-day logistics of Day Camp and custom guided programming: communicate face to face with parents, supervise and support staff, monitor weather patterns and river levels, and handle behavioral issues with campers and staff
  • Hire/Train and Manage Timecards for all Camp Staff
  • Lead camper check-in and check-out
  • Facilitate a river or biking experience with day campers of varying size, age, and number; understanding and implementing risk-reduction in navigation, communication, and decision-making
  • Educate day campers about local area information, other NOC activities and offerings, river and trip information while providing supervision
  • Provide superior guest service to all campers, before, after, and during their trip, as well as outstanding guest service to parents during check-in and check-out
  • Lead games and other activities for children during down time and transitional times
  • Assist with coordination and logistics as well as fill in if necessary to guide trips for specialty programs that include biking and paddling
  • Other duties include pre and post trip preparation in off-the-water tasks, including moving, loading and unloading rafts, assisting guests with gear, delivering instructional talks, and washing and organizing gear and equipment
  • Other tasks as assigned and based on qualifications
