About The Position

As the food pantry coordinator, you will be responsible for receiving and directing all calls, mail, and volunteers.  You will also make sure the office environment has necessary equipment and supplies, oversee food pantry operations and be generally helpful to the corps officers, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
  • 2 years administrative experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
  • Oversee Volunteers as needed
  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require bending, squatting, walking.
  • May require standing for extended

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and donors upon arrival.
  • Communication: Answer phones and email messages throughout the day. Make sure there is clear information going out into the community.
  • Mail: Sort and distribute mail.
  • Volunteers: Record, schedule, and report on volunteer hours.
  • Office Supplies: Notify corps officers when office supplies are needed.
  • Sunday bulletin: Maintain prayer list, enter announcements, and print and fold.  Send out monthly reminders to participants.
  • Hidden Falls Summer Camp: Make flyers, register children, check them in on the day of departure, check heads and organize drivers.
  • Advisory Board: Notify members of meetings, maintain RSVP list, update roster as necessary.
  • Mailing lists: Maintain mailing lists for different ministries/activities including church, Social Services, special events, etc.
  • Seasonal events: Back to school giveaway: make flyers for agencies, schedule volunteers Volunteer Bellringers:  Send out letters to previous volunteers, maintain database and communicate with Kettle coordinator.
  • Assist with bellringer transportation as needed during the Christmas season.
  • Organize and sort donations keeping the pantry clean and clear.
  • Make sure all incoming donations are properly weighed and recorded per requirements.
  • Oversee shopping and distribution of food to clients.
  • Oversee volunteers that assist with the food pantry.
  • Work with officers and clients as necessary to maintain a safe environment for all.
  • Monitor public areas for cleanliness and order; assist where necessary.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership
