About The Position

The Program Coordinator is a member of the K.C. Potter Center for LGBTQI+ Life in the Belonging and Communities area of the Student Affairs division at Vanderbilt University and is a key contributor responsible for programs, events, and initiatives within the Center. This position works with campus and community partners to design, coordinate, and deliver events and initiatives related to sexuality and gender identity for the Vanderbilt community. The coordinator will make important connections with and support all students, including students with intersectional identities who may be part of our Black, Latinx, Asian, Native, Indigenous, and other student communities. The coordinator also serves as an advisor and/or liaison to LGBTQIA+ organizations on campus and provides relevant resource referrals to Vanderbilt community members. Reporting directly to the Director of LGBTQI+ Life, the Coordinator collaborates most frequently with the professional and student staff within LGBTQI+ Life as well as the other offices within Student Affairs division.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree is required.
Extensive knowledge of LGBTQI+ communities and their needs both in and outside of a higher education environment is required.

Nice To Haves

A master's degree is strongly preferred.
Experience coordinating programs and initiatives related to sexuality and gender identity is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop creative and collaborative programming that is educationally sound, intersectional in nature, and speaks to the lived experiences of LGBTQI+ community members.
Execute programming and attend events that specifically collaborate with the other departments and Community Centers.
Organize programming that centers the voices and support of LGBTQI+ students with intersectional identities, including students who may be part of our Black, Latinx, Asian, Native, Indigenous, and other student communities. This includes, but is not limited to, securing reservations and catering, developing marketing materials and timelines, submitting events to relevant calendars, and development of relevant assessments.
Advise and mentor intersectional undergraduate student LGBTQI+ group(s) and coordinate with graduate student groups to assist leadership in achieving their goals.
Utilize office listservs, social media accounts, and marketing materials to tell a compelling and accurate story of the work of LGBTQI+ Life at Vanderbilt in order to drive engagement.
Provide information about campus and community resources, support, and referrals to Vanderbilt affiliates to facilitate a successful and affirming experience at the University.
Contribute to the broader mission and objectives of Student Affairs and the University by serving on divisional and institutional committees, task forces, and working groups.
Actively participate in key divisional initiatives and events, including Move-In Day and all-division meetings and gatherings.
Maintain a working knowledge of relevant university policies, procedures, and systems-such as those related to travel, procurement, expense, and time reporting-to ensure effective, compliant, and responsible operations.
Demonstrate a collaborative spirit by supporting divisional colleagues and engaging in efforts that advance shared goals and strategic priorities.
