About The Position

The Justus Warren Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Executive Director provides statewide leadership for initiatives aimed at improving cardiovascular health, stroke prevention, physical activity, and nutrition within the Community and Clinical Connections for Prevention and Health (CCCPH) Branch. This role supports key legislative, clinical, and community partners to advance evidence-based policies and population level strategies that reduce obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke across North Carolina. The Executive Director serves as the primary coordinator for the Justus Warren Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force and its statewide Stroke Advisory Council (SAC). Responsibilities include planning and facilitating Task Force and SAC meetings; preparing the Task Force's annual report to the General Assembly; coordinating the annual Action Agenda process; supporting legislative appointments and onboarding; and maintaining the Start With Your Heart website and related communications. This position also supports implementation of federally funded cardiovascular health initiatives within CCCPH by providing subject matter expertise, assisting with project coordination, supporting development of educational materials, maintaining website resources, delivering presentations, responding to information requests, and assisting with statewide learning collaboratives and Communities of Practice. Additionally, the Executive Director provides coordination for the Eat Smart Move More North Carolina (ESMM NC) Collaborative. Duties include supporting the Executive Committee, preparing for Collaborative meetings, coordinating workgroups, collaborating on statewide healthy eating and physical activity priorities, managing the ESMM NC Awards process, and assisting with communications and promotional activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in the program related to the area of assignment OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
