We currently seek a full-time Program Coordinator to join and oversee our Hospitality Center team! The full-time Program Coordinator oversees Osborne’s Hospitality Centers at New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) correctional facilities. These Centers assist loved ones with the processing for visiting a person who is incarcerated. This role involves supervising approximately 25 part-time staff who work on weekends and holidays, acting as the Osborne liaison to DOCCS, and ensuring the successful achievement of program goals. The Coordinator will maintain superior relations with DOCCS staff and provide excellent customer service to visitors. The work schedule is 5 days per week, Thursday to Monday, with required weekend hours from 7 am - 3 pm. See details below regarding required travel. Salary: $64,000 - $66,640 annually

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience supporting a non-profit organization in a supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of and competence within the correctional environment.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain clearance to work in New York State prisons, including a background check.
  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence with database entry and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and possess strong time management skills.
  • Interpersonal: Ability to work in teams, collaborate effectively with people in different functions, and communicate with all levels of the organization to build strong relationships.
  • Initiative: Ability to analyze and integrate information independently, take the initiative, and drive for results.
  • Related Knowledge: Prior knowledge of prison family issues, with the ability to interact with a diverse population, is required. Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Management: Recruit, train, and manage Hospitality Center workers, including directly supervising the Senior Hospitality Center worker and their team.
  • Operations & Logistics: Oversee the operation of each Center (currently 19 centers in Western and Central New York), proactively addressing on-site issues, and scheduling staff coverage for weekends and holidays.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Adhere to established DOCCS and Osborne guidelines and ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and reports in collaboration with the Data Analyst.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with funders and DOCCS staff to maintain positive working relationships and garner supplemental funding or in-kind resources.
  • Training & Development: Develop a training curriculum to enhance consistency and professionalism in Center operations.
  • Direct Support: Provide assistance to visitors related to visiting, packages, communication, and other basic prison concerns, and offer direct backup coverage to local facilities when needed.
  • Travel: Must have a reliable vehicle for quarterly and occasional, timely weekday or weekend visits to Centers statewide for meetings and to train new staff. Mileage is reimbursed at the federal IRS rates.
  • In-person attendance is required to collaborate with coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
