A HIICAP (Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance Program) Coordinator manages the local program for Monroe and Livingston County, overseeing volunteers’ daily operations. Recruiting, training and supporting volunteer counselors who help Medicare beneficiaries understand their complex health insurance (Parts A, B, C, D, Medigap). Coordinate and schedule volunteer time. Scheduling community events, i.e., tabling events, health fairs and Medicare presentations in the community. We help individuals with Medicare and their families, those soon to be eligible for Medicare, and individuals with disabilities and low-income older adults. In essence, the HIICAP Coordinator is the central figure ensuring unbiased, accurate health insurance guidance reaches those who need it, leveraging volunteers and adhering to strict program guidelines.
