About The Position

GOOD HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN INDIAN COUNTRY (GHWIC) PROGRAM GOALS: To coordinate events which include CDC information on Chronic Diseases, Planning a healthy snack and organizing craft circle activities. To enhance the educational, social, cultural and emotional development of the community. Promote optimal development of the GHWIC program and work with the GHWIC Coalition to build a solid GHWIC program in the Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribal Community. Work directly with the ITCN AoA Program Director on all reporting required for the GHWIC grant. Position Summary: The GHWIC Coordinator is responsible for assisting the administration of the GHWIC program. The GHWIC Coordinator will assist with monitoring and coordinating activities in the field to ensure effective delivery of program services, will be responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies, providing information on needed materials in a timely manner to prepare a requisition for a purchase order and manage shipping receipts to prepare the payment of supplies ordered.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Program Administration principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of the Tribal communities, including anticipation of their organization and community needs.
  • Knowledge of the GHWIC program.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, analyze data, prepare reports and submit in a timely manner.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State, ITCN and other program guidelines.
  • Ability to work effectively with the Tribal communities, community organizations, AoA staff, ITCN staff and program representatives from ITCA.
  • Self-motivated, a self-starter, dependable, and has the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • A positive attitude with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willing to obtain Food Manager Certification and/or other Professional Development courses to enhance GHWIC program.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively including overnight trips.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada’s Driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must have reliable a vehicle to travel extensively within the service areas with required automobile insurance coverage.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to integrate and merge data from multiple programs including Access, Excel, Word, Power Point and Publisher.
  • Ability to work with Canva.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Associate’s Degree
  • Minimum of four years of administrative experience, or any combination of experience, training, or other preparation which would indicate possession of the required knowledge, abilities, and skills outlined in this position.
  • Experience working with tribal communities or Indigenous populations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to tribal communities throughout Nevada.

  • Familiarity with Native American culture, tribal governance, and community-based program delivery.
  • Knowledge of Nevada’s tribal landscape and socioeconomic conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining files.
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with community partners to advocate on behalf of Native American communities.
  • Serve as a positive role model with ITCN Staff, community groups and Tribal partners.
  • Assist with answering and assisting with incoming calls for the GHWIC Program as needed.
  • Stay updated with evolving program guidelines, regulations, and best practices in the field of Good Health & Wellness in Indian Country.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, data analysis, and timely submission of reports in compliance with program requirements.
  • Greet clients and visitors by phone and/or in person and direct them to the appropriate parties, and/or supply them with program information and services.
  • Assist with supply orders, inventory and ordering of office/program supplies and documenting through HR and ITCN Finance staff.
  • Act as a liaison between program teams, fostering a cohesive and cooperative working environment in accordance with program activity.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries from both internal and external parties.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist with GHWIC Work Plan development and implementation as well as submitting required reports and budgets to the AoA Program Director.
  • Stay abreast of the latest data and research as it relates to chronic diseases, nutrition and self-care for community members.
  • Other duties as assigned
