About The Position

The mission of the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control (BTBC) is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB) and eliminate it as a public health problem in New York City. This role provides essential cross-cutting support for non-clinical functions within the Office of Medical Affairs. You will gain broad exposure by assisting teams involved in critical areas like drug-resistant TB case management and regulatory affairs. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and flexible individual willing to handle a variety of tasks, including essential administrative and coordination duties. The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, be adept at managing competing priorities, and demonstrate an eagerness to learn clinical/scientific subject matter and analytical techniques. While initial responsibilities focus on supporting team members, this role offers opportunities to contribute to data-driven public health improvements and take on progressively more complex tasks as familiarity and skills grow.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with data manipulation, visualization, or analysis using statistical software (such as R, SAS, or SPSS) or a strong aptitude and willingness to learn these skills.
  • Prior experience in a public health, healthcare, or regulatory setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support: Update and meticulously organize program protocols; prepare and manage correspondence; take clear and concise meeting minutes.
  • Assist the Regulatory Affairs Coordinator: Support the preparation and review of regulatory documents (e.g., court orders); coordinate and attend meetings with legal and hospital partners, delivering documents within the city as needed.
  • Support the MDR-TB coordination team: Assist with data extraction and quality assurance checks; serve as a reliable point of contact for responding to data/information requests from internal/external partners, health professionals, and hospitals.
  • Ensure team coverage: Flexibly cover essential functions for team coordinators during absences, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.
  • Prepare communication materials: Create, update, and refine presentations (including basic graphics) related to program activities.
  • Contribute to program development (with guidance): As experience grows, assist with developing specific projects aligned with program needs and candidate interest/abilities, under the direction of senior staff.
