About The Position

The Program Assistant will primarily work in the community with specific target populations, working closely with medical providers, pharmaceutical companies, and other agencies to improve the access of medications for local residents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Three years in a medical office or health related field.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a point of contact for program information and coordinates responses to request for program information.
  • Conducts personal interviews with local residents and completes pharmaceutical applications for medication assistance programs.
  • Maintains pharmaceutical company and client databases; keeps administrative, fiscal, and client records in accordance with required guidelines.
  • Assists in recruitment of program participants.
  • Serves as a liaison and communicates with clinical/organization staff at host site(s).
  • Assists in the coordination and organization of assigned programs and events.
  • Develops and implements project timelines and assures deadlines are met.
  • Ensures participant files are handled, maintained and stored in accordance with university Personal Health Information (PHI) protocols and policies.
  • Travels to various locations within the Rio Grande Valley for program activities in a personal or University vehicle.
  • Calls clients for pre and post appointment reminders and telephones potential clients for recruitment after outreach events.
  • Provides administrative support to include calling and following-up with program participants, pharmaceutical companies, and medical providers.
  • Prepares packets for programs and presentations.
  • Assists Program Administrators with administrative and programmatic tasks.
  • Prepares program correspondence.
  • Assists with committee meetings and attends program meetings.
  • Prepares and delivers special presentations in the community.
  • Participates in health fairs, and in public speaking engagements.
  • Works in the community to establish collaborative efforts.
  • Assists with data collection and entering and works with knowledgeable experts in analysis of data collected for research purposes and in support of program effectiveness goals.
  • Develops reports on program participants and other special reports as required and provides logistical support.
