Young Community Developers (YCD), established in 1973, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering residents of historically underserved communities in San Francisco. YCD employs a holistic approach through education, workforce development, and social services to foster economic mobility and break cycles of poverty, serving approximately 1,200 community members annually. YCD has been recognized as one of the top 50 best non-profits to work for in the United States. The Phoenix Project, a key initiative, offers relentless outreach, one-on-one coaching, and multiyear trauma-informed support to participants in four HOPE SF communities (Hunters View, Alice Griffith, Sunnydale, Potrero Terrace & Annex) and two Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) sites (Oakdale and Harbor). Utilizing a bio-psychosocial-cultural-spiritual (BPSS) framework and collaborating with eight community-based partners, the Phoenix Project provides comprehensive services including life coaching, educational/employment support, behavioral/physical health services, peace promotion, and barrier remediation, specifically targeting young people who may not thrive in traditional programs. The Program Assistant will support the Phoenix Project Director by serving as a resource, rotating across all Phoenix Project sites, completing intakes, interaction notes, and assessments, referring clients to community resources, and transporting clients to and from educational or employment opportunities as needed. This is a temporary, non-exempt position with a 2-4 month assignment, requiring 30 hours per week, in-person, Monday-Friday from 12:00pm-6:00pm, with occasional additional evening hours.
