Overview Utah State University’s Center for Water Efficient Landscaping (CWEL) is a research and outreach center with a mission to improve the efficient use of water for landscape irrigation in the state of Utah. CWEL's specific goals include conducting research on water requirements of ornamental plants and turfgrasses, the effects of short and long-term drought on landscapes, the development and use of drought tolerant plants, and characterization of community-wide landscape water demand and use patterns. The Center’s outreach and education programs provide expertise and information to statewide Extension offices, the green industry, water purveyors/institutions, and the general public. CWEL achieves these goals through collaboration with federal, state, and local agencies as well as Utah's green industry. More information on the center can be found at https://extension.usu.edu/cwel/ .
