About The Position

The Program Aide is responsible for daily guidance/supervision of client at all times. The Program Aide assists clients to achieve the goals of his/her individual service plan. The Program Aide should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must have: · High School/GED with three years of direct service experience with children and families with increased responsibility or demonstrated leadership. OR · Associates /Bachelor’s degree or higher in a behavioral or social science field with two years experience of direct service experience with children and families. OR · Master’s degree in a behavioral or social science field.
  • Have the physical ability, energy, flexibility and maturity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions.
  • Establish positive relationships with clients and others.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow structured routines.
  • Develop and utilize appropriate childcare skills.
  • Display a Christian character.
  • Basic computer skills (minimum Word and E-Mail).
  • Agree to abide by all the policies, rules, guidelines and regulations of the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.
  • Exhibit tactfulness and good judgment in dealing with people
  • Familiar with traditional Baptist tenets, customs and practices and shall maintain a compatible lifestyle

  • Complete required staff development hours within the program including 24 hours in child care related training, current CPR, 1st Aid and approved emergency safety intervention training

  • Maintain the physical ability to operate agency vehicles and to carry out essential job duties to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions

Responsibilities

  • Maintain supervision of clients at all times.
  • Daily documentation per program procedures.
  • Visibly monitor sleeping clients and document per program procedures.
  • Administer medication as directed by physician and the client’s service plan.
  • Prepare and serve well-balanced meals according to USDA guidelines as assigned.
  • Lead the clients in establishing ways of living together and managing their daily productive lives per individual service plan.
  • Develop and lead group meetings daily and/or as needed.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations using Emergency Safety Interventions including the use of de-escalating techniques and performing physical control positions when necessary.
  • Transport clients as required.
  • Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
  • Provide appropriate behavior management techniques according to agency guidelines.
  • Help build and maintain a positive environment for clients.
  • Demonstrate leadership, develop teamwork and function as contributing member of the team.
  • Provide orientation/40 hour shadowing for new YCWs and mentor new team members.
  • Leadership in particular areas such as crisis management or recreation as assigned.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports and documentation for any crises that may occur on shift working.
  • Check medication logs every scheduled workday and report any errors.
  • Teach clients hygiene, good health, safety habits, money management and other life skills per individual service plans.
  • Plan daily devotion time and attend church or other religious education opportunities with clients.
  • Participate in staff meetings, intakes, conferences, treatment team meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Perform searches of residents/rooms as needed within agency guidelines.
  • Maintain cottage/program facility to meet all licensing/accreditation requirements and contract guidelines including minor maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep of grounds and buildings.
  • Teach clients procedures for upkeep of assigned facility and grounds.
  • Provide on-call services as assigned.
  • Represent agency favorably at all time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
