About The Position
Learn Academy, "formally Chrysalis Academy", a certified K – 12 private day school, is looking for full-time, year-round Teaching Assistants for the 2024-2025 school year! The TA will provide educational, behavioral and communication support to children with autism spectrum disorder, and related disorders under the direction of a Certified Special Education Teacher. The starting pay is $18.50/hr This position is perfect for candidates that are generally interested to work with children with special needs and want to make a difference in their lives! It’s also a great opportunity for candidates with a background in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Healthcare.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with children.
- PCM Certificate must be current.
- Must have or willing to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid & Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, grasp) for extended periods of time.
Nice To Haves
- Course work in related subject preferred.
- Experience in ABA preferred, not required.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans using ABA techniques.
- Directly support students with daily living activities.
- Behavior documentation and reporting.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships.
- Work independently and with supervisor to create treatment plans.
- Communicate with supervisors and other colleagues consistently and professionally.
- Attend training, supervision, and mentor meetings.
- Receptive to constructive feedback in group and individual settings.
- Must be able to work independently and meet all clinical and administrative deadlines.
- Must be willing and able to implement safety measures consistent with Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) such as: therapeutic holds and transportation procedures utilizing quick body movements in the course of maintaining the safety of students with special needs.
