Works under general direction and requires general supervisory principles/ techniques and agency policies and extensive knowledge of adult detention Acts for Managing Director of Court and Community by relieving Managing Director of most difficult administrative duties Assists in administering and directing statewide programming in areas of policy, budget, staffing, administrative reviews, health and safety and ACA accreditation Formulates, implements, analyzes and revises policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with state and federal laws Visit sites to observe and collect information and data to make recommendations for changes in policies and procedures Communicates and coordinates activities with community/ law enforcement agencies Attends Division budget planning sessions Writes and/or reviews DPCS mission statement, goals, objectives and performance measures Assists in coordinating preparation of DPCS’s budget requests and spending plans Assists in staff allocation planning Monitors movement of selection files Other overseas initiatives aimed at improving services Supervises staff assigned to Bureau of Adult Detention and coordinate activities, work assignments between the community and DPCS Supervises staff/ sections as assigned by the Managing Director Represents DPCS as a liaison to any ODRC meetings or committees Coordinate DPCS staff and programs to synchronize prison and supervision operations Develops, implements and monitors service delivery (programming) from prison to community which will address and eliminate the abrupt transition for offenders coming home Represents Management on labor-management committees (i.e. Co-chair statewide health and safety committee); assists in collection of documentation for American Correction Association (ACA) accreditation process Serves as a liaison by responding both verbally and in writing to requests and inquiries regarding inmate related from the Governor’s Office, Director’s Office, Attorneys, Legislators and general public Provides technical advice on DPCS issues (e.g., Parole Board, Fugitive, Compact, BCS, and APA Works with Legal Section to research and resolve unusual circumstances and situations Responds to complaints about staff; conduct staff meetings screens and interviews applicants, conduct pre-employment background investigations and make recommendations for hire The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis). Requirements

  • 5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in business administration, management or public administration.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.
  • Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 2, 63123.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in administering and directing statewide programming in areas of policy, budget, staffing, administrative reviews, health and safety and ACA accreditation
