About The Position

The Department of Radiology offers a unique opportunity and is seeking a dynamic physician-scientist or scientist with interest in building a research program at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and medical imaging to join our faculty on the Tenure Track. The candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, scientists, researchers, and collaborators from across the University to develop and implement a cutting-edge AI-medical imaging-focused research program. Applicants will be considered for the titles listed: Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have successfully obtained extramural funding with at least one NIH R01-level grant as Principal Investigator, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with research at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and medical imaging.
  • Candidates with an MD degree should have completed a radiology residency program, subspecialty clinical fellowship, and also be board certified by the American Board of Radiology.
  • WI medical license is required by start date of position, if a physician performing clinical work.
  • MD, DO, or equivalent by start date is required by start date of position.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in data science or medical imaging field such as Biomedical Engineering, Informatics, Data Science or Medical Physics is preferred but not required.
  • The chosen candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

Responsibilities

  • Build an innovative multidisciplinary research program that involves the development, evaluation, and/or clinical implementation of novel AI and machine learning applications involving any domain of radiology and medical imaging.
  • If a physician-scientist, interpret and report imaging studies and/or image-guided procedures depending on the sub-specialty section(s) of clinical expertise.
  • Participate in the teaching efforts within the Department of Radiology. Teaching responsibilities will include lectures, conferences, and daily training of residents, fellows, and medical students (if on clinical service).
  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative research and education efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
  • Serve on research mentor committees as needed
